The SCM readers utilize the PC/SC standard
interface to communicate with smart cards. Since PC/SC is designed
exclusively for microprocessor smart cards, we have developed the
MCard interface which allows the SCM readers to communicate with
memory cards through PC/SC.

Microprocessor Smartcards
For developers utilizing microprocessor cards in their applications please reference our PC/SC page for
PC/SC programming techniques and examples.
PC/SC is the standard interface for communicating with microprocessor smart cards. PC/SC works with most
standard smart card terminals. You can also visit
http://www.pcscworkgroup.com/
Microsoft PC/SC
for additional PC/SC and smartcard information.
Memory Smartcards
SCM readers use the MCard API interface to communicate with memory cards. The MCard API provides a reader independent memory card
interface which is still compatible with and works through the existing PC/SC API.
For developers that plan on or are using SCM readers and memory cards please visit our MCard page for .
